How Does It Work?
Our editorial staff in New York is constantly reading manuscripts of the most current children’s and young adult literature. Once a title has been chosen, copies are sent to Renaissance Learning to begin the quizzing process.
Because the selections have not been released to the public, this is the first time Renaissance Learning has seen the book. During the publication of the Junior Library Guild Selections, Renaissance Learning is reading the book and creating AR quizzes. This provides you with the guarantee that quiz sets for the books will be available in a timely manner.
What Reading Levels Do the Quiz Sets Cover?
Junior Library Guild has made it easier than ever for the busy librarian to purchase AR titles and quizzes at the same time. We now offer AR packages for both Elementary and Junior/Senior High School Libraries.
The Elementary AR quiz sets cover the following Junior Library Guild reading levels:
K: Kindergarten (Grades PreK-K)
P: Primary Level (Grades K-1)
P+: Primary Level (Grades K-1)
E: Easy Reading (Grades 1-3)
E+: Easy Reading (Grades 1-3)
I: Independent Readers (Grades 2-4)
I+: Independent Readers (Grades 2-4)
A: Intermediate Readers (Grades 3-5)
A+: Intermediate Readers (Grades 3-5)
B: Upper Elem/Junior High (Grades 5-7)
B+: Upper Elem/Junior High (Grades 5-7)
ME: Mystery/Adventure Elementary (2-6)
NE: Nonfiction Elementary (Grades 2-6)
SE: Sports Elementary (Grades 2-6)
A total of fourteen books are shipped monthly with the corresponding AR quizzes sent out quarterly. The total price for the Elementary AR packages is $2,599.00 – this includes the books, AR quiz sets, MARC records, and shipping. This averages out to only $15.47 a book!
The Junior/Senior High School AR quiz sets cover the following Junior Library Guild reading levels:
A: Intermediate Readers (Grades 3-5)
A+: Intermediate Readers (Grades 3-5)
B: Upper Elem/Junior High (Grades 5-7)
B+: Upper Elem/Junior High (Grades 5-7)
C: Advanced Readers (Grades 6-9)
C+: Advanced Readers (Grades 6-9)
Y: Young Adult (Grades 9 & up)
Y+: Young Adult (Grades 9 & up)
YM: Mature Y. A. (Grades 11 & up)
GM: Graphic Novels Mid & Hi (Grades 7-11)

A total of thirteen books are shipped monthly with the corresponding AR quizzes sent out quarterly. The total price for the Junior/Senior High School AR packages is $2417.00– this includes the books, AR quiz sets, MARC records, and shipping and handling. This averages out to only $15.49 a book!
When are the Quizzes Available? How Are They Sent?
Our AR quiz sets are sent out 4 times a year – Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Each quiz set will contain quizzes for three months of Junior Library Guild selections. Most customers will need to purchase 4 quiz sets to cover their Junior Library Guild book order.
The quiz sets are:
Winter (January, February, and March titles)
Spring (April, May, and June titles)
Summer (July, August, and September titles)
Fall (October, November, and December titles)
Each quiz set will be sent out at the end of the quarter. Why the delay? This is due to the fact that the titles are brand new and Renaissance Learning needs time to read the selections and complete the quizzes.
The quizzes are available via e-mail or CD. There is no additional charge to receive the quizzes by e-mail. Quizzes sent on CD require an additional cost of $10.00 per quiz set ordered to cover shipping charges. PLEASE NOTE: If you order a CD, we will need to verify whether the disk should be formatted for an IBM or MAC machine.
How Do I Order?
AR quiz sets can be ordered at any time through our sales or customer service departments. The price for the Elementary AR quiz set is $116.00 per quarter, totaling $464.00 a year. The price for the Junior/Senior High AR quiz set is $108.00 per quarter, totaling $432.00 a year. Please note: These prices are for quizzes sent by e-mail only.
