The year is 1880. Nine-year-old Noah Bidson helps run the family’s farm on the Colorado prairie. Noah’s parents are illiterate, but they want Noah to learn how to read. Mrs. Bidson invites her sister Dora, a teacher, to visit and tutor Noah. Noah thinks reading is irrelevant to his life on the prairie until Dora takes their classes outdoors. Full-color paintings.
