A ten-year-old boy in Siberia made the discovery of a lifetime when in 2007 he found the body of a baby woolly mammoth frozen in the snow. The body was amazingly well-preserved, considering that baby mammoth "Lyuba" died about forty thousand years earlier. If scientists can determine why mammoths became extinct, they may be able to use the knowledge to help other large animals, such as elephants, survive today. Select references. Glossary. Index.
