How JLG Works
JLG works as a review service on your behalf. Our distinguished editorial staff reviews over 3,000 manuscripts before publication—from the lists of the foremost children's book publishers—to make our 336 selections. We offer twenty-eight carefully delineated Reading Levels from which to choose, covering preschool through high school.
As a JLG member, you can add twelve brand-new hardcover books to your collection each year for every level you purchase. We ship the books at a rate of one per month for each reading level you order.
Each JLG book is modestly priced at just $13.25—$159.00 per annual order with FREE shipping and handling. This per-book price represents significant savings off the publishers' retail prices.
Twice yearly, JLG notifies members in advance—with a Forthcoming Books Announcement, Premier Selections Poster, and Resource Catalog—of the newest titles and months in which they are to be shipped to you. This early notification eliminates order duplication. Included in the semi-annual Resource Catalogue are detailed, up-to-date biographies of the authors and artists (a JLG exclusive), as well as curriculum indications and Dewey classifications. Each year our editorial staff reviews over 3,000 submissions in manuscript form from the foremost children’s publishers. We select only 336 books annually to add to the JLG list. Because we purchase our books before they are published, we receive favorable pricing from all the major publishers. We pass on these great savings to our members, and you receive the finest-quality, first-edition books for just $13.25.
Nearly 100% of JLG books receive favorable reviews and/or win major children’s book awards. Because we select and distribute our books close to the publication date, by the time awards are announced many of the winners are already on our members’ library shelves. Those same titles may also already be available in our Award-Winning Titles (Backlist) Catalog, which features books we have already sent to our members. The prices of these books are just $13.25, $12.50, $9.00, and $5.00.
Seasonal Specials: As an extra member benefit, we also have seasonal specials that offer some of our most recent releases at special prices. These specials are limited-time offers and quantities are limited.
