Tiny Treasures in a Storybook House

Written by Deborah B. Ford

September 26, 2012

LJXpress had an article this morning about Dayton Metro Public Library. It seems a librarian won a dollhouse and turned it into a Storybook House. Clues from children’s literature are hidden in the rooms. What a wonderful way to get kids to think about the characters and stories they love. The dollhouse is on exhibit now, but there are plans to rotate it among other libraries in that system. Sadly, not all of us live in Ohio. (Oh! But I DO!! I could see the dollhouse!)

The good news is that even if you can’t come to Ohio, they put the dollhouse in a virtual exhibit on their website. Visitors can click on a room and look for hidden storybook treasures. Eye Spy comes to life!

If you were hiding treasures in a dollhouse, what objects would you choose? I would choose tiny silver shoes from which story?  Tell me at dford@juniorlibraryguild.com or post it on our Facebook page.
