Webcast Recap: Silly and Somber: Books for Spring 2017 From the JLG Webinar Series

Written by Deborah B. Ford

December 12, 2016

Scar IslandWhile the rest of the world is wagering guesses on ALA Awards, the JLG Team is busy working on 2017. On today’s webcast, Susan Marston and I talked about some of the titles on deck for spring 2017. With an early trend of silly and somber, we chatted about a modern day Lord of the Flies, a graphic novel memoir, and a wordless book with words. We also talked about the JLG editorial process, so if you missed the webcast, be sure to watch the archive when it is posted later this week.

Now is the time to add some categories and start building your wish lists. Remember that you can easily transfer your wish list into your shopping cart. Maybe you can post your wish list to your community, suggesting books for everyone is a better gift rather than another coffee mug—just saying.

In addition to providing you with great selections, Junior Library Guild continues to build resources to help you use these titles. We are in the process of creating a new Booktalk to Go LiveBinder for Spring 2017.  JLG BTG titles are added to our Pinterest board and tweeted out by following Deborah B. Ford. Look for book trailers and archived webcasts on our JLG YouTube Playlists and on our website at More JLG Services/Video Resources.  Thanks to our marketing team, BTG LiveBinder Tabs with links will now be added to the book detail page. This is a direct link to the resources in the binder.

This webcast will be archived and posted on the JLG website at a later date. Your certificate of attendance can be reprinted by watching the archived video for at least ten minutes.

Join us for our next national webcast on at 3:00PM EDT January 26 when Liz Gavril, senior editor at JLG, will join me as we chat about the upcoming elementary titles for spring 2017.
