Nevada Young Readers’ Award 2015–2017
The Nevada Young Reader’s Award was first established in the fall of 1987 by the Nevada Department of Education with the generous support of librarians and teachers. In its first year there were only 4,106 student votes in 14 schools. Since then, the award has grown each year. The purpose of the Nevada Young Readers’ Award is to encourage Nevada youth to read modern works of juvenile literature; develop a love of reading and lifelong reading habits; and promotes a sense of community through a statewide reading program.
