Webcast Recap: 4 Ways to Strengthen Diversity in Your Library Program

By: Deborah B. Ford | February 09, 2017 | Shelf Life

flying lessonsIn our webcast today, I shared four ways to strengthen diversity in your library program. As I said, every effort you make towards inclusion and diversity matters to someone. By being aware, keeping up with the literature, shaking up your programming and bringing in outside resources, the impact you can make is so valuable. Here's the article I wrote for Principal magazine. Be sure to share it with your principal if you're a school librarian. Let’s keep the ideas flowing. Tag us on social media (@JrLibGuild) with the hashtag #WeNeedDiverseBooks. What are you doing that you can share with librarians around the world? In addition to providing you with great book selections, Junior Library Guild continues to build resources to help you use these titles. Webcast titles are being added Booktalk to Go LiveBinder for Spring 2017.  This binder is full of resources for teaching and sharing these wonderful selections. Thanks to our marketing team, BTG LiveBinder Tabs with links are now added to the book detail page. This is a direct link to the resources in the binder. JLG BTG titles are also added to our Pinterest board and tweeted out by following Deborah B. Ford. Look for book trailers and archived webcasts on our JLG YouTube Playlists and on our website at More JLG Services/Video Resources. This webcast will be archived and posted on the JLG website at a later date. Your certificate of attendance can be printed after watching the archived video for at least ten minutes. To access the handout, click here. Join us for our next national webcast on February 23 at 3:00PM EDT for The Buzz about New Teen Books, Grades 6-12.
