Ask the Librarian: March 2018
by Deborah B. Ford

Many webcasts are at 3:00PM when I’m teaching. What can I do so that I don’t miss them?

That happens to me all the time. With my travel schedule, most of the webcasts occur when I’m flying or speaking. If you look around in our industry, you’ll see most webcasts occur midafternoon Eastern time. You’re probably wrapping things up in a school library or getting the afternoon rush at a public library. If you’re on the west coast, that’s likely to be your busy lunch rush.

Though it’s hard to please everyone, the solution is simple. In today’s build-your-own-PD world, sign up for webcasts—regardless of your schedule. After you miss the original broadcast, an email will be sent to you with the archived event. You can watch when it’s best for you. We call it #PajamaPD. Because it’s a recording with the same format, you’ll be able to download a certificate of attendance and the handout.
