Dave Horowitz writes, "When I was in elementary school, we were given an assignment to choose a fictitious product and create an advertisement for it. One student brought in an old hat. Her poster was simply the words Buy My Hats! I thought it was brilliant. The teacher disagreed and gave my classmate an F. Some thirty years later, I can 't even remember the student 's name, but I still remember those three little words: Buy My Hats!
"Although Buy My Hats! is a story about two friends working hard and having faith, I hope it also shows kids the difference between wanting something and needing it. To avoid any legal actions, I will let readers determine for themselves which modern companies ' products were the inspiration for our heroes ' competition. (Hint: one of those companies ' names rhymes with Starducks.) "
