Make Your Movie Series by Capstone Press/Velocity

Series Review
These short books give young directors solid information about creating original films. Each title has the same organization—an introduction to the genre, followed by sections on planning, shooting, editing, and premiering—and some of the information is repeated in each of the books. Horror, Sci-Fi, and Action have fun ideas for simple special effects that could be realistically accomplished by industrious teens. Comedy discusses how to decide what works and does not work in a humorous film. Throughout the volumes, Quijano refers to famous movies and points out techniques used in them to accomplish specific ends. The series assumes that readers have access to a digital movie camera, film editing software, and a computer capable of handling large files. The books are illustrated with photographs and reproductions set on busy, brightly colored backgrounds.—School Library Journal
