Abraham Lincoln grew up surrounded by stories. Each night, by the fire in their log cabin, his mother told tales from the Bible and his father spun yarns. Abe loved to learn and observe the world and devoted whatever spare time he had to books-he even read while plowing the fields. Abe’s books gave him a taste of life beyond the frontier.
