The Federal Space Exploration Agency wants to build a colony on the moon, and they want Super Scientist Max Axiom to find the engineers to do it! On the off chance that premise doesn’t grab readers’ attention, the book also boasts a comic-book format and a superhero narrator who vvrooms from one engineering site to another on a shiny red motorcycle. In fast-paced, informative conversations, a wide array of engineers (mechanical, astronautical, biomedical, etc.) explain the work they do and how that work could help make the lunar colony a reality. Occasional text boxes add further detail. This high-energy introduction to engineering is sure to leave readers wanting more, and the back matter offers information about engineering, further reading suggestions, a link to publisher-approved Web sites, and an index.

Series Review
Max Axiom, the supercharged scientist of series past, moves from the natural world into the realm of high-tech (mostly) in this graphic novel-style STEM-focused subset. In Scientists and in Engineers he puts together teams for, respectively, a science fair and a lunar colony by zipping from the Interna-tional Space Station to the ocean’s bottom for quick interviews with a range of STEM special-ists. The other two volumes are more process oriented, following each stage in the design and con-struction of a super skateboard and a large recycling facility. Sidebars clarify and expand upon infor-mation presented in the narratives. Enhanced by their visual format, resource lists, and closing spreads containing historical background notes and additional information, these volumes offer stimulating glances at their topics.
