“Your trip to the moon will take about 4 days.” Directly addressing the reader, who “came . . . to find more room to ride” in a “lunar buggy,” this book cleverly describes the features of the Moon in some detail. Without wind or rain, footprints remain for years on the Moon; without air, the lunar sky is always black. The attractively cartoony illustrations depict a child exploring gravity with slam dunks, discovering lack of sound by drumming on his dashboard, and cleaning the ever-present dust (“the dirt on the Moon’s surface, like a fine powder, is called regolith.”) from his space suit.
