Tom is a quiet, awkward boy who dreams about riding in a hot sports car and using superpowers to rescue a pretty classmate from a series of disasters. Everything changes when Jessica joins his seventhgrade class. I couldn't believe I was looking at the face of someone alive, thinks Tom when he sees Jessica's burned skin, the result of a terrible accident. But Jessica turns out to be someone he can talk to, and the two develop an unexpected friendship. Winner of the 2006 Golden Kite Award.
