Keeper of Soles

One night, a tall figure cloaked in black comes knocking on Colin the cobbler's door. "Your time has passed, and you must go with me," Death says. Colin blurts out the only reasonable response: "You're barefoot!" Surely what Death needs is a good pair of shoes. The shoemaker sketches a quick design for sandals and ushers out his visitor with a promise to have them ready in a month. But how will Colin hold the Keeper of Souls at bay once he returns?
