Sabertooth

From thirteen million to ten thousand years ago, sabertooths lived throughout the world. They were ferocious hunters named for their two canine teeth, which could grow to eleven inches in length. Heavy and strong, sabertooths probably attacked their prey in groups-they even may have hunted early humans! No one knows exactly why these large cats disappeared, but some scientists believe that sabertooths died out when a warming climate caused their large prey to become extinct. Cat family tree.
