Haiku by a Japanese master capture the essence of each season, while full-color, mixed-media illustrations depict important moments in the lives of a boy, a girl, their parents, and their ailing grandfather. Spring: "Once snows have melted, / the village soon overflows / with friendly children." Summer: "So many breezes / wander through my summer room: / but never enough."
