Voyage to the Pharos

Dino, a boy in ancient Rhodes, is thrilled to make his first voyage, all the way to Alexandria! There, he will see the Pharos, a great lighthouse "so high it touches the sky." However, Dino soon learns about the Mediterranean's hazards: brigands, storms, and the rocky coastline. He is eager to help and soon finds himself atop the mast as the ship's lookout on a dangerous night. From there he watches for the Pharos's great bonfire in hopes of finding safety. Author's note.
